DJ GRUV
 American-born DJ Gruv – aka Derald Reynolds – Gruvmusic Founder, has been DJ-ing and exploring his passion since the age of 13. During his teenage years he was a bedroom DJ getting the occasional ‘house party’ gig. His DJ-ing career took off upon entering university, when he joined a local DJ group called ‘Dirty 8 Productions’ in North Carolina. He would soon become a dominant force on the local scene, rocking large-scale college parties and making guest appearances on the local college radio station 90.1 WNAA. Upon completing his degree, he was accepted to study at the Oxford Brookes University in the UK. This is when he first brought his DJ-ing talents to an international audience. He became resident at Oxford’s premiere Hip-Hop and R&B nightspot The Parkend Night Club, and he was often a guest on the local radio station Oxygen FM displaying his turntable skills over the airwaves.
DJ Gruv moved to Hong Kong in 1997. He started on the scene by playing at underground venues such as Medium Rare and soon began to make a name for himself. It was then that he was offered a co-residency with DJ Joel Lai at drop. Since he started his DJ-ing, he’s played along with international Artists and DJs: De La Soul, Biz Markie, Smokin’ Joe, James Fierce, and Sandy Riviera. His signature sound ranges from Hip-Hop to mix mash and Lounge/Chill out.
His global club experience has taken DJ Gruv to Club La Belle, True Color Bar & Faces Disco in Shanghai & Beijing; Coco Latte in Singapore; Club Viva in Malaysia; Embassy Superclub in The Philippines; and Luxy in Taiwan. In Hong Kong, his current repertoire includes Club 97; Thursday Resident at Club Play; and Saturday Resident at VOLAR.
